What is CCA

Covenant Christian Academy is committed to exceptional learning, established by Christian parents who seek to fulfill their calling to train their children in all wisdom and skills in God’s world. Our mission is to train and discipline the mind and heart to help children understand their God-given gifts and abilities so as to serve Him and others in society.

Why CCA

At CCA, students find a safe environment in which all aspects of a traditional education is combined with godly character training to develop the whole child. Every subject is taught on the basis of Scripture and to the highest possible academic standards according to each child’s ability, as demonstrated by our consistently high academic performance. We address not only the intellect, but also the heart, to produce wisdom and disciplined behavior. Our small size and multi-grade classrooms allow for an ideal teacher-to- student ratio, a more realistic learning environment, and a family-style community where children learn, work, and play together across different grade levels. We also offer competitive tuition, and we support a Private School Satellite Program (home school) for K- 12th grades.

For whom

As part of a covenant community, CCA partners together with the home and church to provide quality education without discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national and ethnic origin. We welcome the wider evangelical Christian community whose desire is for their children not only to excel academically but to understand the real world as God designed it and to be salt and light as well as committed servants of Christ’s kingdom.

Education Background

Covenant Christian Academy

Why choose a Christian School? It's a question Christian parents, grandparents, and the Christian community should be willing to ask, consider, and be prepared to answer. What are your beliefs and those of your covenant community, and how do they impact a child’s education and place of learning?

In our society parents are expected to consider so many important factors when choosing a school for their children. There are many things that influence and guide decision making.

Location and accessibility are obvious factors. Are there opportunities for athletics, or creative expression in drama, music, and art? Can a school be too big or too small? What are the class sizes, teacher qualifications, facilities and use of technology? Is there a caring atmosphere? What are the costs including uniforms, campus facility and field trips? Are there enough electives that provide educational choices? Will our children do well enough academically to be prepared for college and career choices? Will they make good friends and be safe?

Are there enough electives that provide educational choices? Will our children do well enough academically to be prepared for college and career choices? Will they make good friends and be safe?

These are all important considerations. Yet the founders of many Christian schools felt these were not the most important factors. They opened their Bibles and read, Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will. Rom 12.2

Letting their children be conformed to society's patterns of life through school was not something these parents wanted. They understood the powerful role schools have. Schools help children decide what is and is not important. At home these parents taught their children their beliefs, values, and how they saw the world around them. Yet this was often being undermined in the classrooms.

Most of all, Christian parents were concerned they were not fulfilling their responsibility in raising their children (Eph. 6:4). Instead they were entrusting their children to the care of people who saw life and the world very differently.

The founders of Christian schools chose to create new communities of partnership between parents and Christian teachers. They desired a partnership where Jesus Christ, God, and the Bible were reinforced and honored.

They wanted their children to both recognize and discover God in every aspect of life. Christianity for them was not something limited to Sundays, the home or church. It impacted every area of their life.

When asked "Why Christian schools?" the simple answer was, and still is, we want our children to be taught the truth. The Apostle John said of his spiritual children, I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 3 John 1:4

Students

Fourth Grader

“The teachers not only help me in school subjects, but also learning about God and His wonderful creation. The principal’s talks help me understand the relationship of God and the marvelous creatures in His creation. It is a blessing to go to this Christian school and learn about God. Thank you, teachers.”

“I love my school because my teachers are so kind to everyone.”

Sixth Grader

“I think CCA is a great school because our teachers encourage us during hard times. They actually want us to learn.”

“I like being here because there are many ways to encourage students to work harder. Subjects like math, science, English, Spanish, and history give us a challenge. We go to ACSI events, and we learn and have fun when going. Everybody knows everybody, so it’s really easy to make friends. All new kids are welcomed into the school.”

Eighth Grader

“The teachers here at CCA rejoice with the students when they have earned a reward for their good efforts; the students are privileged with more of their teacher’s time than at a public school.”

“Two words come to mind that describe the school – fun and educational. Every three years, the middle school class gets to go to Washington, D.C. The teachers are encouraging and very helpful.”

Teachers

Traditional education from a Biblical worldview. We provide education in all the basic study subjects that would be found in a traditional school. The teachers are competent because they understand how to connect these various subjects under one worldview.

“We love our students! I heard a speaker at an ACSI Convention advising the audience to “be an actor and pretend to love your students.” At CCA we DO love them, and they know it.”

“Excellent in teaching children to memorize Scripture, catechism, and poetry. The children"s joy and ability to commit Scripture to memory are demonstrated in the classroom and also the big school programs that are given throughout the year.”

“Every single child is given multiple opportunities throughout the year to learn to be on a stage, to perform, to speak, to sing, to recite. These lessons in hard work and perseverance will probably stay with the children through their lifetime.”

“The groupings of different grade levels together (e.g.- 3rd-5th grade in 1 classroom) makes for a more realistic learning environment and better prepares children for the "real world" than a more typical public/private school that would teach children by individual grade levels.”

“The student to teacher ratio is such that students receive amazing one-on- one time. Students that need to be challenged more are given more challenge and can work ahead of their grade level, and those that need more time to grow are given such time and attention.”

Parents

“I am thankful for the education my three covenant children have received at CCA. I appreciate that the basis of this school is the Word of God. We are blessed with competent and godly staff concerned not only for the students’ academic learning, but also for their spiritual growth and love for the Savior.

One of the great assets to our school is the teacher-to- student ratio. The individualized teaching/training is truly a gift so each student is able to learn at the pace that is best for him/her. I appreciate the wisdom, concern, and diligence of the board members, as they seek to serve the Lord through the ministry of this treasured-morsel- of-a- school..”
